I didn’t get here because my life was easy. I got here because it wasn’t — and I learned how to get through it anyway.
My name is Tawny, and this is the tl;dr of how I ended up becoming an Emotional Capacity Coach
I grew up in a home where things weren’t safe — emotionally or physically.
I didn’t know how to deal with it, so I acted out.
By 15, I was a meth addict.
Barely made it out of high school.

No matter how bad things got — I always found a way through.
Eventually, I got sober.
But I didn’t stop coping… I just changed how it showed up.

I became the “put-together” one.
The productive one.
The one who had to prove they were okay.
I built a career as a news producer and then a copywriter. On paper, it looked like I figured it out.
But internally?
I still felt like shit —
anxious, always “on,” like I couldn’t turn it off.

I hit a breaking point —
And I realized I had no idea how to actually feel "okay".
That’s when I found coaching. First as a client (and eventually as a certified coach).
Not because I wanted a new career — but because I just wanted to feel better.

And over time, I did.
Not because life got easier —
but because I learned how to manage my capacity better.
Since then, I’ve been through more than most people will ever see —
addiction, cancer, abusive relationships, and navigating my own mental health while supporting my wife through depression and suicidal ideation.

And over time, I did.
Not because life got easier —
but because I learned how to handle what I feel.
Since then, I’ve been through more than most people will ever see —
addiction, cancer, abusive relationships, and navigating my own mental health while supporting my wife through depression and suicidal ideation.

But here’s what matters:
You wouldn’t know it by looking at me.
Not because I’m hiding it —
but because I don’t carry it the same way anymore.
That’s the work.

Now I help people who look like they’ve got it together — but feel like they’re carrying more than they can keep up with —
expand their capacity to handle more of their life without burning out...
so they can show up consistently, follow through, and stop running on empty.

Because no matter how successful you are — if you can’t handle your shit in a healthy way…
you’ll always feel trapped.

This is your sign it's time to make a change
Ready for life to stop feeling so draining?
